Autumn and Fireworks!

We have been learning more about the season Autumn. The days are getting shorter and there is a definite chill in the air! As the leaves have fallen from the trees we have used them to make window stickers and playdough imprints.

We have read the story “Pumpkin Soup” and the children have used their senses to explore real pumpkins. Some children chose to practise their scissor skills and decorated a large pumpkin with shiny paper. We scooped out the pumpkin seeds and roasted them. The children were surprised at how delicious they tasted!

In RE we have been learning about Baptism and being welcomed into God’s family. The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in a role play of a baptism service, taking turns playing the part of the priest, parents, God parents and friends of the family.

In Maths we are exploring shapes in the environment. We are beginning to spot and name lots of different shapes and we are learning to use Maths language to describe the different shapes.

We have also had a very sparkly and colourful week in Nursery. The children have enjoyed talking about bonfire night celebrations. We have had lots of fun painting firework pictures, listening to firework sounds and drawing patterns with chalk. We also made edible sparklers – bread sticks and chocolate icing and plenty of sprinkles! Yummy!

Here are some photos of some of the other  activities we have enjoyed.
