A Super Start!

Welcome to the nursery blog. Every two weeks we will update the blog to let you know what activities your children have been taking part in at nursery and give some information about the things they have been learning.
We are delighted with how well and how quickly the children are settling in. The last couple of weeks our main focus has been on playing games with the children to help them start to learn their new friends’ names and introducing then to the different toys and resources in the nursery classroom.
Last week they met Bumble the nursery bear. We helped him to learn how to do a painting at nursery, starting with putting on an apron, choosing his paper, attempting to write B for Bumble (so we know it was his painting) and then trying to put the paint brush back in the same coloured pot. What a lot of things for Bumble to remember! All the children then had a turn to paint a picture and see how many things they could remember that they had to do. They did really well with this activity.

Over the week they have been introduced to the sand, play dough and brick resources.
We have started our new RE topic which is “Myself.” Last week some of the children played some get to know your name games. This week we have started to look at some words from the book of Isaiah which remind us that we are all precious to God.
We decorated the Bible verse with some hand prints.
As we thought about our families we shared our family photos and some of us chose different art activities. We made a person from our family using shapes, made a play dough face, drew a self portrait and printed with different sized circles which we made into faces.

Here are a few of the other things we have done inside.

Friends Together.
It has been lovely to pop into the nursery classroom in the afternoon and see the afternoon provision for nursery children of "Friends Together" in full swing.  At the minute there are between 7 and 10 children each day enjoying a range of activities from baby yoga to art and craft plus many different indoor and outdoor activities.  If you are interested in a weekly session or sessions then do let the nursery staff or Juliette, who runs the afternoons know. Her contact details are:

Just reminder that on Saturday 6th October the St Dominic PTA is having a barn dance.  I am sure this will be a fun event. If you are interested in some tickets, please see one of the class PTA reps.

We have had a few donations of snack/cooking money. If anyone else would like to donate, please hand your donation to a member of staff. At the nursery information meeting we suggested £3 a term donation for cooking and £2 a term for snacks.

Well done Nursery for a great start. Enjoy a well deserved rest over the weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.
