Under the Sea

Over the past two weeks we have been finding out all
about creatures that live under the sea. We have used different materials to make pictures. I wonder if your child can find the one they made? We have made a display of them in the classroom. Do take a look.

We have used a bottle to make an underwater scene and enjoyed hearing the story “Commotion in the Ocean” where we had to listen carefully for the words that rhymed. We then thought of our own pairs of words that rhymed.

In RE we started a new topic on “Friends”. We thought about what makes a good friend and what we liked doing with our friends at Nursery. We made a paper chain of friends which we have added to our RE board.

For "show and tell" we enjoyed looking at some lovely creative fish art work that the children had done at home. Here are a few examples.

In Understanding of the World we enjoyed making some jelly and looking at the changes that took place as it went from solid to liquid and then back to a solid again.

In Maths we have continued to play games to help us work out what is one more or one less than a number. In one of the games, the teacher threw the dice and then the children had to work out what is one more or one less than the number shown. You might like to try this game at home.

Next half term our topic is “Nature Explorers.” We will start the week by thinking about which minibeasts have spots and stripes.

We look forward to meeting you in the week after half term to share your child's learning journal. If you have not yet signed up please see a staff member to book a slot.
Don't forget Friday 8th June is class photos.

On behalf of the Nursery team, may I wish you all a lovely half term.

Jill Clarke
