Over the last two weeks we have been finding out a little more about how plants and people change as they grow.  We have enjoyed looking at the photographs the children have brought in and talking about the things we can and cannot do at different ages.
We also planted cress seeds and were amazed at how quickly they grew. We talked about how we take care of plants to help them grow and some of us had a go at using our phonics to write about our cress seeds.

Thank you for the plants and seeds. We will be planting them next week in the outdoor area,
In PSHE we have been learning about what foods are good for us to eat. We talked about why it is important to have a drink and fruit at snack time and why milk is good for us. We then made a milk shake and watched what happens when we mix the powder with the milk. We found out that nursery definitely like milkshake!

We watched a short film on the whiteboard that showed us how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. We looked at pictures of different butterflies and the patterns on their wings. We made our own butterflies by painting one side of the paper and folding it over to make a symmetrical pattern. We will be making a class display of the pictures.
On Friday we joined with the rest of the school to lay our pennies that we had collected in our lent boxes on the letters W.C.C.S. (Westminster Catholic Children's Society)
After school on Friday some of nursery joined with  their reception friends for a pyjama party. Many thanks to the nursery parent reps who organised the event.
Next week we will be thinking about Easter.  In maths we will be ordering items by height  and measuring objects using unifix. On Friday we will join the rest of the school for Mass.
Here are some of the other things we have done this week.

We hope you all have a lovely Mother's day tomorrow,
Jill Clarke

People Who Help Us

We have had another busy couple of weeks in Nursery. We have been finding out more about people who help us keep healthy and those that help us in the community. We have been talking about going to the dentist and enjoyed being doctors and nurses in the role play area.

We have also had a very interesting visit from Jared's uncle , who told us all about the work he does as a pilot.

On Tuesday we celebrated Pancake Day. We found out how to make a pancake , learned a little action rhyme about tossing pancakes and then enjoyed eating some pancakes together. We found out that nursery love pancakes!

On Thursday we joined in with the rest of the school in celebrating World Book Day. Can you guess what character we were?

We also enjoyed hearing  a special story from Blanca's mummy.

Last Friday Nursery performed their assembly. Like you we were very proud of the way they sang and spoke. Well done Nursery.
This week as part of their work in RE on the theme of Gathering,  Nursery visited Our Lady Of Lourdes Church where they attended a short service. Thank you to all the parent helpers for your help with walking to the church.
Next week we begin a mini topic on growing and will start by looking at how plants and flowers grow. In maths we will be finding out a little more about 2D and 3D shapes.
Here are a few of the other things we have done over the last 2 weeks.
