Last week we continued to find out about how the Festival of Diwali is celebrated. We enjoyed making some traditional Bakla sweets and got our muscles working moulding the clay into small Diwali pots, which we then painted and decorated.
This week we revisited the topic of Autumn. We noticed how the trees were losing lots of leaves now and looked at all the different colours and shapes of leaves. We made some great pictures using leaves, sticks and conkers and have made a display in the classroom. Do take a look. We also made autumn crowns, autumn play dough creatures and some patterns using sticks and leaves.
On Tuesday “Game On” came and gave us another very enjoyable PE workshop outside.
In maths we have started to look at similarities of shapes in the environment. We started by playing “guess the shape” as a shape was described to us but we couldn’t see it. We then looked around the outside area and classroom to find things with different shapes and talked about whether the sides were straight or round and how many sides they had.
Next week we will be continuing with these shape activities and having a go at printing using different shapes and objects. Our story next week is “Owl Babies” by Martin Waddell and on Thursday we are having an exciting visit from a real Owl as we discover lots of new things about Owls. Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.
Have a lovely weekend,
