This week the children have been finding out about towers. Thank you for all the card board boxes. We had lots of fun on Monday and Tuesday building different towers. We even managed (with a little help from Mrs Hounslow) to build one very tall tower using all the boxes.

The children also all had a go at drawing an imaginary tower. They had lots of ideas for what they should look like. We have made a display of them in the classroom.

In fine motor we have been making models with the construction straws, threading cotton reels and writing the letter g.

We also made some oat biscuits which made the classroom smell lovely.

Next week we will be visiting the pond. Thank you for the loan of nets. I now have enough for a group which is great. We will be doing some activities from the book "The Rainbow Fish". Our sound of the week is o and in maths we will be guessing how many objects we can see and then seeing if we were right by counting them.
A couple of reminders. Please could I have all Stockwood Park trip replies by Wednesday. Don't forget the Pirates and Princesses Disco on Thursday 5th May . Tickets available form the PTA.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the phonics talk on Friday. Here are details of the two websites that I mentioned. Letters and sounds has games for phase one and two and starfall has activities to support learning initial sounds. Enjoy.
Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

Have a lovely weekend

We have had a lovely week continuing to find out more about dinosaurs. The sun has shone (most days) so we have enjoyed some extended time outside. We started the week listening to some rhyming stories about dinosaurs. We thought of as many words as we could that rhymed with hat. We listened to the story of Tom and the dinosaurs and made some maps and messages. We also made some dinosaur eggs which were very tasty.

In phonics we took part in some activities to learn the sound d. We played a game outside hunting for objects and then matched them with their initial sound.

In busy fingers we made some shapes with elastic bands on the geoboards, models from mobilo and used tweezers and spoons to pick up pasta.

On Thursday we celebrated the Queen's birthday by making some colourful bunting.
Next week our theme is towers. We will be building lots of different towers and drawing a tower. Please remember to bring in a small cardboard box on Monday. Our sound of the week is g . In maths we will be using our number knowledge to solve some number problems.
During the week Mrs Hounslow is going to be planting some seeds in the early years' garden. If any children have some seeds or flowers they would like to plant, they are very welcome to bring them in.
Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

On Friday there is a short meeting at 11.30am to talk about phonics in nursery.
Have a lovely weekend
