Baby Animals

Welcome back after half term. We hope you all had a super break.

This week we have been learning about baby animals and how they grow and change. We read a flap book called ‘Baby Goz – When I grow up’ by Steve Weatherill. The children enjoyed reading the book and lifting the flaps to reveal a baby animal. They then had to guess which ‘adult’ animal was it mum.  In key worker time we talked about how the children have grown and changed since they were born.  Thank you for the baby photos. The children were excited to meet Enya’s baby sister! Thank you for coming to visit us Effie.

During Maths, the children were ‘Shape detective’ who had to look for different shapes in the Nursery environment. Below are some shapes that we found!

Thank you Mrs Web for our dinosaur number line!

The role play area has been converted into a shop. The children worked well, taking turns to be the shopkeeper or a customer in the shop. The children have enjoyed looking at the different coins.

Next week our topic is ‘Food’. We will be looking at food logos and the children will observe how popcorn changes when the seeds are heated! We will then enjoy munching the popcorn!

Here are some photos of other fun things we have enjoyed this week…

Don’t forget to dress up for World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March.

We are looking forward to at Nursery’s class assembly on Thursday 10th March at 9:15.

Have a super weekend

Non fiction Books

This week we have been looking at different books and finding out how the pictures and print give us information. The children all looked at different books and chose a favourite picture to talk about. On Tuesday we looked at some recipe books and particularly the page that told us how to make pancakes. We had a go at mixing some batter before tasting pancakes.

On Wednesday we joined the rest of the school for the first part of the Ash Wednesday Mass.
All of nursery are to be congratulated on how well they sat and listened. During the week our role play corner has been turned into a little church. On Monday in RE we talked about how we gather together for Church. We then pretended to have a little service together.
The children have enjoyed using the role play to hold their own services, with many babies being baptised over the week.

After half term we start a new topic on "Changes." In the first week we will be looking at how we have changed since we were a baby. Please could your child bring in a photograph of themselves as a baby or toddler.
Don't forget to look at numbers or print in the environment over half term. We look forward to hearing how your child got on with the activity.
Thank you for signing up for parent teacher consultations. There are still a few spaces left  if you have not yet had an opportunity to sign up.
Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

Have a lovely half term,

Chinese New Year

This week we have been finding out all about how Chinese New Year is celebrated. After watching a clip on the cbeebies website the children have taken part in lots of different activities. These have included making lanterns, picking up noodles with chopsticks and making Chinese New Year cards. We also had a lovely talk from one of the nursery parents who brought lots of great pictures for us  to look at.

Next week we will be looking at non fiction books and looking at illustrations and print in the environment. If your child has a a favourite non fiction book they would like to show their friends they are welcome to bring it to nursery. In phonics we are continuing our theme of alliteration and are thinking of little sentences like "David's dinosaurs." On Wednesday we join the rest of the school for the first part of Ash Wednesday Mass.
Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

Have a lovely weekend,
