My favourite food

This week we have been finding out a little more about the children's favourite foods and also the links some of the children in nursery have with other countries. Each day we have answered our register by saying hello in a different language. A big thank you also to the parents who came in and gave a short talk to the children about a country where they have lived.

In explore and learn we have enjoyed a variety of food related activities including printing with fruit and vegetables, exploring oats and pasta, trying to pick up things with chopsticks and using our maths in our shop.

On Tuesday we looked at different logos on food packaging. The top logos recognized were Haribo, McDonalds and shopping bags for Sainsburys and Waitrose. Other logos they all knew were Frozen and cbeebies!

In maths this week we have been practising counting small groups of objects.
In RE we enjoyed looking at the children's Baptism photos. Some of the children also sorted some objects into 2 groups: those that welcome a baby into their own family and those that welcome a baby into God's family.

After half term we start a new topic on Celebrations. During key worker time we will be sharing any magic moments from the children's half term as well as looking at any objects they can find to do with autumn.
Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

I hope you all have a lovely half term. Well done nursery you have worked very hard this half term. Enjoy your week off.

My Favourite Toy

This week we have enjoyed finding out about the children's favourite toys. The children have spoken very well at key worker time explaining how their toys work.

On Tuesday we heard a story all about a little boy called Harry whose favourite toy was dinosaurs. We used dinosaurs to vote on our favourite things choosing between different fruits, colours and toys. We counted the dinosaurs in the hoops and talked about which hoop had more or less or sometimes both hoops had the same. I was very impressed with the children's counting.

In RE we joined with the rest of the school in celebrating One World Week. We watched  a short animated film on the CAFOD website and then listened to the story of Creation . We all painted a picture of something we remembered from the story.

Next week we will be thinking about our favourite foods. Our week will also have an international feel as we find out a little more about the connections different children in nursery have with other countries. Our final sound this half term is n and our rhyme to form the letter is "Down Nobby, over his net" (football net).
I look forward to seeing you next week at Parent Consultations on Tuesday.
Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

Have a lovely weekend
