Chinese New Year

Welcome back after half term. Thank you for all your magic moments. The children have enjoyed sharing the different things they have done over half term.
This week we have had a great week finding out all about Chinese New Year. The children have looked at the differences between uncooked and cooked rice and some children have had a tasting session. We had prawn crackers for snack one day which was very popular! We have made dragons, Happy New Year cards and had many a picnic using chopsticks.

On Friday a parent also came to tell us a little more about Chinese New Year and showed us how to make some lovely lanterns.

In number this half term we are thinking all about representing numbers either by writing the number or drawing marks on paper. We played some games and practised counting and recording our scores!

In RE we talked about gathering together for Mass. We made a little church in the classroom and acted out the things that happen at Mass.

What’s happening next week?
Next week we will be thinking about estimating how many seeds we can see and checking our guesses  by counting the seeds. Our sound of the week is d. We will be talking about what a plant need to grow and planting our own seeds. On Thursday we will join with the rest of the school as we celebrate World Book Day. The children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

Have a lovely weekend

Jill Clarke
